Dear Representative/Senator
As an advocate for gene sequencing, which is a part of precision medicine, I urge you to support an increase in funding for gene sequencing research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Gene sequencing is a valuable tool in the fight against cancer. It will lead to cancer breakthroughs which will save or extend the lives of cancer patients.
The NIH is our nations leader in research. The NIH has been involved with:
- Sequencing of the whole human genome and related cancer research.
- Research to understand the molecular causes of cancer which has cut cancer deaths already.
- The “All of US” research program which is a historic effort to gather data from one million or more people living in the United States to accelerate research and improve health.
We need your help to accelerate cancer research and be our advocate. I will continue to rally for gene sequencing and precision medicine on my end. Please make gene sequencing a higher priority for our nation by increasing the funding.
Thank you for your consideration and please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this issue further.
Sincerely,
